In the week before and after the conference a number of short courses and symposia have been arranged.
European Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics 2012
The University of Edinburgh will host the "European Institute in Statistical Genetics 2012", to run in the weeks on either side of the International Conference in Quantitative Genetics, 13-15th June and 25-29th June 2012.
This Institute is organized in collaboration with the Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics run by the University of Washington, Seattle. The Institute consists of a
series of two-and-a-half day workshops designed to introduce geneticists to
modern methods of statistical analysis and to introduce statisticians to the statistical challenges posed by modern genetic data. Prerequisites are
minimal, and the modular nature of the Institute enables participants to
design a program best suited to their backgrounds and interests.
Modules have been planned in the following topics::
1. Genomic Prediction
2. Genetic of Competition
3. Advanced R for Genetic Analysis
4. Population Genetic Data Analysis
5. Gene Expression Profiling
6. Mixed Models in Quantitative Genetics
7. MCMC for Genetics
8. Plant and Animal Association Mapping
9. Inference of Relationships and Relatedness
